Pineapple Mango

Pineapple Mango came to me a little differently than most of the cans I feature here. I picked this one up along with a few other "new to me" flavors through a trade with a fellow collector, sending over a few cans of 2008 OG Cola in exchange. This week is also a first for Discontinued Saturdays: I had never tasted Pineapple Mango before. Usually I have some kind of memory tied to the flavor before I open the can, but this time I was going in completely blind. Flavorwise, this is definitely pineapple first. The first sip hits with a sweet, candy like pineapple flavor that’s bright and really easy to pick out. I was expecting the mango to play a much bigger role, but it stays pretty light and mostly shows up on the finish. It softens the pineapple just enough without ever taking over. What surprised me most is how straight forward it is. This doesn’t really taste like an equal pineapple mango blend. It feels more like a sweet pineapple red bull with a light mango finish, and I think that actually works in its favor. The pineapple gives it that punchy tropical flavor, while the mango keeps the ending a little smoother. It’s definitely on the sweeter side, but not in a heavy way. More candy like than juicy, which gives it a really fun throwback summer drink vibe. Going into this one with no previous experience of the flavor made the first sip a little more interesting. I honestly expected more mango, but the pineapple completely steals the show. For my first ever (and possibly last ever) Pineapple Mango, and the first true first-time tasting on Discontinued Saturdays, I’d call this one a win. It’s sweet, tropical, simple, and exactly the kind of discontinued flavor that makes you wonder why it ever disappeared. I wish i had more of them. You listening Red Bull? PAY ATTENTION!

Sweet, candy like pineapple up front with a light mango finish. Pineapple is the dominant flavor. If you ever had a pineapple jolly rancher, that's a pretty accurate comparison.

This is a first time tasting for me! The first of the series so far. Thats exciting. I have no memories attached to this flavor. I acquired it in a trade with a fellow collector that i traded some OG cans of Red Bull Cola from 2008 for. High 5 to you sir!
